Betty A. Williams

Betty A. Williams, 88, of Paris, Tennessee, died Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at Henry County Medical Center in Paris.

Betty was born Thursday, May 23, 1935, in Paris, Tennessee, to the late Douglas Anderson and the late Pauline Sullivan Anderson.

She retired after many years from the Henry County Circuit Court Clerk’s office.

Betty was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Paris, where she was very active as a member of the Ambassador Sunday School Class and served meals to families during times of bereavement.

She was married Friday, November 4, 1955, to Leon V. Williams, who preceded her in death Wednesday, July 19, 2000.

She enjoyed painting, loved going to the mountains and traveling out west with her husband in their motorhome.

Betty enjoyed being the cook at the Henry County jail in the 1970s when her late husband, Leon, served his first term as sheriff.

She later served as a bookkeeper for several sheriffs before starting work at the circuit court clerk’s office.

She was a very loving grandmother who treasured her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one granddaughter: Courtney Williams.

She is survived by her daughter: Linda (Steve) McCadams, of Paris, Tennessee; her son: Terry (Joan) Williams, of Paris, Tennessee; one sister: Karon (Billy) Hill, of Austin, Texas; and three grandchildren: Drake (Courtney) Williams, Brooke Williams, and Holly Williams.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street/PO Box 788, Paris, Tennessee, 38242.  A public graveside service will be held Saturday, March 23, 2024, at 10:00 am at Buck Williams Cemetery on East Antioch Road in Springville, Tennessee, with Brian Wimberley officiating.

Serving as pallbearers will be Dickie Bomar, Danny Williams, Ray Harding, Danny Nelson, Josh Frey, and Kenny Mathews.

Burial will follow the graveside service in Buck Williams Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church Bereavement Meal Ministry, PO Box 25, Paris, Tennessee, 38242, or to Buck Williams Cemetery Fund, c/o Cindy Rice, 150 Bull Durham Road, Buchanan, Tennessee, 38222.
