Union City, Tenn.–Union City’s Sh’Nyla Moss and Emma Mobbs were selected to the all-district middle school softball team Saturday.
The Lady Tornadoes saw their season end in the league’s postseason tournament following a 13-3 first-round loss to Crockett County.
Moss hit .385 and scored a team-high 22 runs for the year. She also had a team-high 27 assists defensively. Mobbs posed a .300 average with a .417 on-base percentage.
In Saturday’s season-ending loss, UC was within 4-3 heading into the bottom of the third before the Lady Cavs scored nine runs in their final two at-bats to break the game open.
Kylie Mayes knocked in two runs for the Twister girls, while both Jenna Kate Cross and Stevee Dugger went 2-for-2 with a pair of singles each. Moss singled and scored a run, while Cross and Maddie Steward also crossed the plate.
Dugger was the losing pitcher.
Union City, which had nine 8th graders on its roster, ends its year with a 5-13 mark.
