Area Mail Deliveries Begin Again Today

usps-trucks

Area residents have been without mail–some for most of this week–and may have to wait a bit longer.

Due to the severe wintry mix of ice and snow, the U.S. Postal Service trucks have been stuck at the Memphis postal hub.

A spokesperson at the Paris Post Office this morning told RadioNWTN that “some mail will be delivered today” now that trucks at the Memphis hub are beginning to be able to bring the mail to the local area.

At the Memphis hub, the U.S Postal Service has temporarily closed some of its facilities and delayed or suspended deliveries.

The following is the statement from U.S.P.S. Tennessee:

“We are making every attempt to deliver to all addresses, however, delivery is impacted due to the extreme conditions and inaccessibility of mailboxes. We are asking customers to assist us by clearing a patch so carriers can safely access their mailbox. This includes sidewalks, steps, porches or the approach to the mailbox if the carrier delivers to a curbside box.”
