Murray, Ky.–The Calloway County Health Department has confirmed the first COVID-19-related death in the county.
According to a press release issued by the department Tuesday afternoon, the department was notified of the death of a county resident. Officials offered their deepest sympathy to the family of the victim.
Calloway County is now reporting 8 positive cases, with three patients fully recovered.
In a press release issued earlier in the day, Director of Nursing Kim Paschall said, “Due to the nature of this virus we can expect more confirmed cases. So, it is extremely important for all of us to make every effort to reduce the risk of exposure by practicing social distancing.” Over the next several weeks, she said, citizens need to follow CDC guidelines and stay at home and stay away from others.
