Update: KSP Investigating Graves Co. Inmate Death & Inmate Overdose

Mayfield, Ky.–The Kentucky State Police is investigating the death of an inmate from the Graves County Jail. Meanwhile, another Graves County Jail inmate is currently being treated at a Paducah hospital from an apparent overdose. The KSP and the Graves County Jail are investigating the origin of the contraband.
Rodney L. Evans, age 50, of Mayfield,  died at 11:22 P.M. at Baptist Health Paducah, on Friday, April 20.  Evans was an inmate at the Graves County Jail, who became unresponsive and was transported to Jackson Purchase ER and later transferred to Baptist Health.
At 1 a.m. Sunday, April 21, the McCracken County Coroner’s Office notified KSP of the death.  Evans was discovered on at 5:27 p.m. Friday and was unresponsive, needing medical attention.
KSP Detective Sgt. Brett Miller is conducting the death investigation.  An autopsy is being conducted today in Louisville.
