The Paris Landing Fire Department responded to a car on fire Thursday morning.
Fire Chief Reggie Coles says around 7:30, his department was dispatched to the intersection of Buchanan Road and Apartment Road just off Highway 79 where they found a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix fully engulfed in flames.
The owner, Barry Jones, of Buchanan stated he was driving and saw smoke coming out from under the hood. He stopped and raised the hood and the entire engine compartment erupted in flames.
The car was ruled a loss. Loss is estimated at $2,000.
A possible fuel leak is the suspected cause.
Chief Coles says nine firefighters and three trucks were on the scene for approximately an hour.
The Henry County Sheriff’s Department County Tanker Truck also responded as a precaution.
