The ‘Tennessee River Grand Slam Cleanup’ at Kentucky Lake removed an impressive haul from the waters and banks in the Buchanan and Murray areas.
Keep Paris/Henry County Beautiful officials said, “It was an AMAZING day with our friends at Living Lands and Waters and 19 stellar volunteers removing an IMPRESSIVE haul.”
Among many items, they removed 166 bags of litter, 457 sq. ft. of Styrofoam, 8.5 tires, 130 lbs. of random plastic, three 55-gallon drums, a 200 lbs. fuel tank, a 250 lb dock float, and much more!
They cleaned coves in a bay that was recently impacted by a tornado and flooding, so there was a lot of dock foam to be recovered from busted up docking.
Thanks to our sponsors at AFTCO, Tennessee Valley Authority (who had a team of volunteers present), and Nobody Trashes Tennessee for making this series possible.
Thanks to Kinsey Disposal Service for hauling away not one but two full dumpsters of trash at no cost to our organization! Thanks to Keep Paris/Henry County Beautiful for hauling away the tires and scrap metal. Thanks so much to Cypress Bay Marina & Resort for allowing them to launch from their new boat ramp.
It was an amazing day and we are so grateful to all who made it possible, they said.
