The women and men of the Tennessee Valley Authority have been hard at work through last week’s snow and ice storms, keeping power plants running so they can continue delivering low-cost, reliable electricity to local power companies which have been keeping lights and heat on.
TVA helicopter line crews have kept a close eye on the high-voltage transmission system and been making sure the grid performed reliably in the arctic cold, snow and ice. With over 16,000 line miles, helicopters are the fastest and safest way to keep watch, according to TVA officials.
Meanwhile, TVA crews delivered pallets of water bottles for Memphians whose water has been limited due to a water main break.
