MURRAY, Ky. — Murray State University is celebrating the 66th annual All Campus Sing, hosted by the Iota Beta chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota, Wednesday, April 17 at 4 p.m. from the steps of Lovett Auditorium. The event, which can be viewed worldwide, will be live streamed at murraystate.edu/streaming.

All Campus Sing, which is organized by the University’s Sigma Alpha Iota (SAI) chapter, is one of the most anticipated campus events at Murray State as it unites students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members. Participants in All Campus Sing typically consist of student groups, including fraternities and sororities, residential colleges and a number of other student organizations and clubs. Each group of performers is responsible for choreographing and performing a brief musical number on the steps of Lovett Auditorium.

Sigma Alpha Iota is an international music fraternity, whose membership consists of students, teachers and performers. The Iota Beta chapter was founded at Murray State in February of 1939 with the help of Doc Farrel, after which the Farrel recital hall is named after.

All Campus Sing began taking place in 1958 in hopes to raise money for one of SAI Philanthropies Inc.’s project called People-to-People. People-to-People provides material assistance such as instruments, music, binders or even music stands to programs here in America and in developing countries. Now, 66 years later, ACS is Murray State’s favorite campus tradition with 20 organizations from across campus participating.

“This event is one that our chapter looks forward to every year. We love getting to create connections across campus as well as serve our community. It is an honor to run this tradition and serve Murray State as well as the fraternity,” said All Campus Sing Chair Gena Ann Parker.

Donations of used instruments will also be accepted during All Campus Sing. These instruments will be given right back to students in local band programs. To Iota Beta, “it is like we get our own People-to-People event right after ACS,” says Parker. Band supplies such as binders, pencils, sheet protectors and music stands will also be accepted. Supplies or instruments can be dropped off at the Murray State Music Department or during All Campus Sing.

All Campus Sing is sponsored in part by the Murray State University Alumni Association and the Office of Student Affairs.
