Springville, Tenn.–History was made Saturday night in Springville when Henry County’s first female fire chief was sworn in. Holly Charland said she is so excited about the new chapter of her life. At a ceremony Saturday at the Springville Fire Station, Charland was sworn in as the new Chief with the retiring long-time Chief Bob McDowell and Outgoing Board Chairman Al Barone right beside her. “The new board and I have so many ideas and plans for our department,” she said. She has been on the Volunteer Fire Department for 13 years next month. “It all started with a CPR class, an application and my dad .. My dad, Al Carroll was on the board as vice chair for about 25 years I’m so excited about this new aspect in my life ..
