Paris, Tenn.–Judge Vicki Snyder, right, and Michelle Taylor of the NW Alternative Corrections Office, lead the way at Tuesday night’s walk around the courthouse to recognize October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

This year, WRAP (Wo’Men’s Resource and Rape Assistance Program) advocates, serving a 19-county area in West Tennessee, are rallying under the banner of “Wrapping West Tennessee in Support.”

Emcees Doris Estes and Laura Winston presented 10 awards at the event: Henry Police Chief Thomas Tharpe; Attorney Stephanie Taylor, Judge Snyder; Michelle Taylor, Victim Advocate Jane Etheridge, Callie Pierce of the Health Department, Vicky Boyd, Dr. Lisa Tyler, Laura Winson and Paris Nutrition.

WRAP advocates noted there have been no domestic violence fatalities in Henry Co. this year. A black draped chair with purple flowers was set up as a reminder of the ones who have not survived.

Treva Kelleher, Administrative Assistant for County Mayor John Penn Ridgeway, read the county proclamation recognizing October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
