80-Year-Old Henry Man Airlifted To Trauma Center After Rescue

Henry, Tenn.–An 80-year-old man is expected to survive after he was rescued from under a fallen tree Wednesday afternoon. He was airlifted to an area trauma center.

The Henry Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to the 25000 block of Hwy. 22 on the report that a tree had fallen on the leg of an 80-year-old man.

Henry’s Engine 2 responded to the scene with six firefighters to find one patient with his leg pinned under a tree.

“Our team along with our partners from Mckenzie Fire and Rescue worked to free the patient over the next few minutes,” they said.

McKenzie Fire & Rescue personnel said, An individual was cutting a large log with a chainsaw. When he completed a cut, the log rolled over on top of him. He was pinned under the log and against a pickup. Rescue crews used inflatible airbags to lift the log allowing the patient to be removed and loaded into an ambulance. The patient was transferred to the Carroll County EMS Station, and loaded into a medical helicopter.”

Also on scene were Henry County EMS, Mckenzie Police, Henry Police, and the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.

The patient was flown by helicopter to a nearby trauma center and is expected to survive.
