William T. Buie, 89, of Paris, Tennessee, died Thursday, August 24, 2023, at Henry County Medical Center in Paris.
William was born Saturday, April 14, 1934, in Paris, Tennessee, to the late William Harmon Buie and the late Nora Vickery Buie.
He retired from Smith Electric in Paris.
He formerly worked at Celotex and was also a farmer.
William raised horses, was an avid horse lover, and was active in the Buchanan Saddle Club.
He loved watching Tennessee Titans football and was a member of Birds Creek Baptist Church.
He was married Thursday, January 31, 1952, to his wife of 71 years: Fay Taylor Buie, who survives, of Paris.
Along with his wife, he is also survived by two daughters: Linda (David) Conger, of Paris, and Donna (Raymond) Perkins, of Mansfield, Tennessee; three sons: David Buie, of Ledbetter, Kentucky, Larry Buie, of Winter Haven, Florida, and Danny Buie, of Paris; one brother: Kenneth Earl (Marsha) Buie, of Jackson, Tennessee; 14 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one daughter, Diana Buie Walters; one son, Billy Buie; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Evelyn (Bill) Holland, Margaret (Robert) Covington, and Geneva (Lindell) Barnes; and two brothers and one sister-in-law, J.D. (Maggie) Buie, and Robert Miller Buie.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street/PO Box 788, Paris, TN 38242.
The body is to be cremated.
A graveside memorial service will be held Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Birds Creek Cemetery in the Whitlock Community of Paris, Tennessee, with Steve Gallimore officiating.
