Dyersburg, Tennessee – The front lawn and grand columns of the E.B. Eller Administration Building set the stage as Dyersburg State Community College (DSCC) celebrated its 53rd graduating class in its annual commencement exercises on May 6 on the Dyersburg campus. Dyersburg State has now opened a franch campus in Paris.

The DSCC choir, led by Thomas Frost, the DSCC music instructor, performed special music for this special ceremony. Dr. Scott Cook, president of DSCC, briefly welcomed those in attendance and congratulated the candidates on their success. Graduates who were members of the Alpha Epsilon Alpha chapter of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, and those who had served in the Armed Forces, were also recognized by Dr. Cook.

“Commencement exercises celebrate our students’ achievements and successes and often represent two or more years of the graduate’s dedication and commitment to accomplish. It is a proud day for all of us a Dyersburg State. We are proud of new graduates and wish them all well as they embark on their future endeavors,” stated Dr. Scott Cook.

Mr. Abdallah Suleiman, president of the DSCC’s Student Government Association (SGA), introduced the guest speaker, Dr. MaryLou Apple, Tennessee Board of Regents.

Dr. Amy Johnson, vice president for the college, presented the candidates and Dr. Cook conferred the degrees and certifications.
