Couple Charged With Assault On Calloway Co. Deputy

Murray, Ky.–A Graves County couple was arrested after they allegedly assaulted a Calloway County Sheriff’s deputy when he was attempting to arrest them. Arrested were Russell Roach, age 60, Mayfield; and Keisha Stonecypher, age 45, Farmington.
On Sunday, June 4, at approximately 2:30 pm Deputy Hayden conducted a traffic stop on a motorcycle on Browns Grove Rd. During the course of the investigation the driver, Russell Roach, initially attempted to flee on foot. The deputy caught him and a physical altercation began. The altercation went to the ground and the officer attempted deploy his taser and Roach tried to disarm the deputy of the taser.
During this time the passenger, Keisha Stonecypher, grabbed Deputy Hayden’s back and was attempting to pull him off of Roach. The deputy was then able to place both subjects in custody.
Murray Police Department officers and other Calloway deputies then arrived to assist. Roach was found to be in possession of approximately 19 grams of methamphetamine. Stonechpher had 2 grams of cocaine and a small amount of methamphetamine and pills. Both were lodged at the Calloway County Detention Center on the below listed charges.
