Paris, Tenn.–A jury trial on charges filed against a Paris attorney has been rescheduled for July after a mistrial was declared Monday in Henry County Circuit Court.

Ainley was indicted in March on a charge of simple assault.

A jury had been seated in today’s trial when the parties agreed to a mistrial declaration during a sidebar with Judge Roy Morgan. A jury trial has been rescheduled for July 14 in the local courtroom. Ainley is represented by Jacson Attorney Daniel Taylor and the state is represented by Assistant District Attorney Joseph Hall.

On August 12, 2022, at the request of former 24th District Attorney General Matt Stowe, TBI agents began investigating allegations of inappropriate conduct by Michael Ainley involving an individual. During the course of the investigation, agents determined that on August 3, 2022, Ainley touched the individual and used inappropriate language during a court proceeding.
