UC Driver Arrested On Way To Court For Drug Charges

bryce-westmoreland-2

Dover, Tenn.–A Union City driver who reportedly kept nodding off and weaving in a school zone in Stewart County was arrested on drug charges.

According to Sheriff Frankie Gray, the driver admitted to having snorted straight Fentanyl earlier.  The driver also said he was on his way to Obion County to appear in court on drug charges.

Bryce Westmoreland, age 27, was charged with DUI, drug possession, possession of unlawful drug paraphernalia, following too closely and driving on revoked license.

The Sheriff’s Office received a complaint about 7:40 a.m. this morning of a grey van with the driver nodding off and weaving. Deputies Aaron Taylor and Josh Miller observed the van coming through North Stewart School Zone.

The van was following the vehicle in front of him too close and was weaving in the traffic lane. According to the press release, before completely stopping, the vehicle almost struck Deputy Miller’s patrol unit. After approaching the vehicle the deputies observed a cut straw with white powder on the seat and partially folded dollar bill.

Once the driver got out of the van, drug paraphernalia as well as marijuana was found in the vehicle. According to the press release, the driver was found to be very confused, unsteady and groggy. Deputies observed the driver to have white powder in and around his nose.

Sheriff Gray said, “A good job by the citizen who called in the early complaint and a good job by Deputies on being observant through out the stop and getting this dangerous person off the road.”

Sheriff Gray and his deputies are sometimes criticized because of their Zero Tolerance and tough stance on drugs in Stewart County regardless of what it is. This morning is a prime example of how dangerous and casual users are about their habit, the press release said.
