UT Martin Equestrian Produces 20 NCEA All-Academic Honorees

WACO, Texas – The University of Tennessee at Martin produced 20 National Collegiate Equestrian Association APHA All-Academic honorees for the 2022-23 campaign, the organization announced this afternoon.

The NCEA formed its All-Academic program to recognize student-athletes for their success both in the arena and in the classroom. To qualify for the NCEA APHA All-Academic first team, a rider must have competed in a minimum of 70 percent of their school’s meets (not including demo or exhibition rides) and earned a cumulative GPA of 3.5 while maintaining full-time enrollment in the previous spring and fall semesters, respectively. In order to achieve NCEA APHA All-Academic Honorable Mention status, a rider must have competed in a minimum of 50 percent of their school’s meets (not including demo or exhibition rides) and earned a cumulative GPA of 3.0 while maintaining full-time enrollment in the previous spring and fall semesters, respectively. The NCEA also spotlights an Academic Honor Roll squad which is comprised of the top academic students who have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.25 while maintaining full-time enrollment in the previous spring and fall semesters, respectively.

A total of eight Skyhawks found themselves on the NCEA APHA All-Academic first team as Kate Davis, Sydney Hott, Haley Kane, Aubrey Malone, Logan Putvinski, Emma Schaefer, Keely Seiter and Sophia Sundem were on the prestigious list which included 119 names.

The NCEA APHA Academic Honorable Mention team is made up of 27 riders, including UT Martin representatives Tyler Anderson, Lexi Bailey and Julia Gilman.

An impressive tally of 231 names from 21 separate colleges or universities graced the NCEA Academic Honor Roll squad. The Skyhawks were responsible for nine of those honorees, including Mahalia Alascio, Mia McAfoos, Abi Myers, Emmy Reed, Casey Ruggiero, Erica Snyder, Bridget Vieau, Rileigh Weiss and Grace York.
