Loy Kevin Gates, 55, of Springville, TN, died Wednesday, February 22, 2023.
He was a heavy equipment operator for 18 years for Henry County Highway Department. Loy enjoyed dirt work and digging ponds for others. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed westerns.
Loy was born September 15, 1967, in Paris, TN, to the late James Arlin Gates and the late Judith Ann Winsett Gates.
He is survived by his daughter, Ashley (Ryan) Gaut of Mansfield, TN; his longtime girlfriend, Tammy Staggs of Big Sandy, TN; three sisters, Marsha Cosey of Knoxville, TN, Tamera (Chris) Green of Paducah, KY, and Kim (Frank) Diaz of Hammond, IN; one brother, Brad (Whitney) Gates of Puryear, TN; three grandchildren, Farrah Gaut, Kinsley Gaut, and Jax Gaut; and 10 nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, James W. Gates and Steven Gates.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN. Memorial visitation will be Sunday, February 26, 2023, from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home, with a time of sharing to begin at 3:00 pm.
Loy will be laid to rest next to his brother James in Poplar Grove Cemetery in Springville, TN.
