DANBURY, Conn. – Senior Julia Gilman from the University of Tennessee at Martin equestrian team was awarded Eastern College Athletic Conference Fences and Flat Rider of the Week accolades today.
A Barrington, Ill. native, Gilman has now captured three ECAC Rider of the Week honors in 2022-23 in addition to an ECAC Rider of the Month award. Overall, four different Skyhawks have joined forces to win eight ECAC accolades so far this season.
Gilman earned a pair of victories over the weekend in UT Martin’s spring-opening road swing through Texas. On Friday against No. 8 Baylor, she secured victory by a wide margin in flat, besting her head-to-head competitor by a 78-64 margin aboard Worthy. The following day when matched up against No. 1 ranked SMU, Gilman posted a 79-74 triumph in fences.
For the weekend, Gilman paced the Skyhawks in flat scoring (79.5 average) while also generating a 79.0 scoring average in fences.
Gilman owns a team-high seven victories to go along with one MOP and an 81.0 scoring average in fences. She has maintained a team-best 83.3 scoring average in flat, contributing four wins and one MOP.
UT Martin takes the next 12 days off before resuming its spring schedule, colliding against No. 1 SMU for Senior Day on Feb. 11 in the Ned McWherter Agricultural Pavilion.
