Paris, Tenn.–Henry County Mayor John Penn Ridgeway has announced county general government offices will close Tuesday, January 31 due to winter weather.    This includes the Courthouse, Annex, Airport, Health Department, Recycling Center, Central Services Building, Election Commission, Archives, and other general government offices.
Henry County Sheriff Josh Frey said roads are extremely slick and he urges motorists to use caution if they must travel. As of 8 a.m., he said, “So far travel has been light and we’ve only had one call of a car off the road.”

Henry County General Sessions Criminal Court will be closed today as well. Those who had court cases scheduled for today in General Sessions Criminal Court and are represented by an attorney should contact their attorney to ask about their new court date.

Those who are representing themselves without legal counsel should contact the court clerk’s office on the next business day that we are open to inquire of their new court date.  The court clerk’s office phone number is 731-642-0461.

Side roads and sidewalks in and around downtown Paris have become hazardous through the night due to accumulating ice and sleet.  No decision has been made in regard to opening on Wednesday.  An announcement will be made later today or Wednesday morning.

The National Weather Service has issued a Ice Storm Warning for Henry County through noon on Thursday.  Temperatures will remain around freezing today with another round of ice expected again tonight.
