Union City Man Faces Long List Of Charges

Martin, Tenn.–A Union City man was charged with criminal impersonation, meth possession, stolen property, fugitive from justice and other offenses during a traffic stop in Martin Monday.

Eric Lynn Choate, age 50, was arrested by Martin Police after Patrolman Nicholas Combs saw Choate and was aware of active arrest warrants out of Fulton County.

According to the report, during the stop, Choate said he did not have an ID and claimed to be another person but Martin Police identified him as Eric Lynn Choate and determined his driver’s license was suspended in Obion Co. General Sessions Court in 2020. Choate also had had a registration plate displayed on his vehicle which proved to be stolen out of Greenfield.

During a search, a glass smoking pipe was found in his right front pocket which Choate said he used for meth.

Another Patrolman arrived and made positive identification of Choate.

Later that day, officers conducted a consent to search of the 1999 Chevrolet Silverado Choate was driving and numerous drug paraphernalia and a crystal substance were found.

Choate was charged with criminal impersonation, stolen property, unlawful drug paraphernalia uses and activities, driving on revoked, suspended or canceled driver’s license, warrant of arrest for crime in another state-fugitive from justice and simple possession/casual exchange.
