Paris, Tenn.–In a tough race, long-time Judge Vicki Snyder defeated challenger Chad Cox to retain her position as Henry County General Sessions/Juvenile Court Judge for another eight years.

Judge Snyder received 2,675 votes, or 55.59 percent, while Cox received 2,136 votes or 44.39 percent.

Snyder said last night at an Election Night gathering at the Owens Event Center in Paris, “I’m just glad I can stay in the job and continue to help children in our county.”

She thanked “all the voters who took the time to get out and vote. It allows me to continue to work as a public servant for the court system here for eight more years.”

She said she is “especially grateful to be able to continue to serve our children with compassion.”

In a statement issued this morning, Cox said:

“I want to take a second to thank all of you that supported us on this journey. To my wife, kids, parents, family and friends I can only say I love you and thank you.
To all the people that took time out of their lives to knock on doors, put up and take down signs, or set out at all 10 polling booths for 12 hours WOW thank you!
Because of this campaign I have been able to cross paths with so many people, and have created new friendships and reunited with old friends, and will cherish those always.
I would like to congratulate Judge Snyder on her campaign and reelection.
Lastly to all those that supported and voted for us, and believed in me to represent you as General Sessions/Juvenile Judge I am truly humbled! Some may say this is the end of the journey, I think it’s just the beginning!”
