Dyersburg, Tenn.–It was a huge day for a six-year-old leukemia survivor in Dyersburg today.
Charlie was selected by Make-A-Wish to fulfill whatever wish he would like and his wish was to be a police officer–specifically a Dyersburg Police Officer.
Police Chief Steve Isbell administered the oath of office to him Friday morning. Isbell invited the community to join in at the swearing in, which was held at the library.
Charlie was given a police uniform and several gifts from Make-A-Wish. His request was that his first task as a police officer is to have a parade. He also was sworn in as an honorary TBI Special Agent.
A huge parade through downtown was held with the Dyersburg Police Department in the lead and a large crowd lining the parade route.
