Paris BPU: Expect Higher Electric Bills This Summer

bpu-cropped-office

Paris, Tenn.–The Paris Board of Public Utilities would like to make customers aware they can expect higher than normal electric bills this summer.
According to BPU officials, TVA’s fuel cost adjustment (FCA) charge remains high and starting July 1, the FCA charge began costing one cent more per kilowatt hour than it did last month. This charge is 100% passed through from TVA and Paris BPU does not retain any portion of these charges.
The FCA is not a new piece of rate and went into effect in 2006 and has remained stable over the last several years. Supply chain issues and inflation are the leading factors for this increase. As a Paris BPU customer, an average household increase would be around $15 from the month of June. Consumption of each individual is the biggest factor to any fluctuation of electric bills.
