Includes over 30 Sheriffs, District Attorneys, and Police Chiefs from across West Tennessee
GERMANTOWN, TN – Today, Congressman David Kustoff (TN-08) announced his law-and-order coalition, featuring more than 30 prominent members of the West Tennessee law enforcement community. From our area, the coalition includes Henry County Sheriff Josh Frey, Obion County Sheriff Karl Jackson, Paris Police Chief Ricky Watson, Weakley County Sheriff Mike Wilson, Martin Police Chief Don Teal, Carroll County Sheriff Andy Dickson, Huntingdon Public Safety Chief Walter Smothers and retired Henry County Sheriff Monte Belew.
Co-Chair of the Committee is Gibson County Sheriff Paul Thomas.
Congressman Kustoff was born and raised in Shelby County and is a graduate of the University of Memphis. In 2006, Kustoff was nominated U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Tennessee by President Bush and confirmed by the United States Senate. As a U.S. Attorney, Kustoff set his sights on cleaning up government and public corruption and fighting violent crime and drugs. He oversaw the majority of the Tennessee Waltz trials that sent Senator John Ford and 11 other defendants to federal prison.
“It is a great honor to have the endorsement of so many outstanding members of our law enforcement community,” said David Kustoff. “As the former United States Attorney for the Western District of Tennessee and as your United States Congressman, I have always worked alongside law enforcement to fight violent crime and keep drugs out of our communities. Over the past two years, elected officials on the other side of the aisle have waged a destructive campaign against law enforcement. Their actions have created a surge in violent crime, and they have stopped allowing our law enforcement officers to do their jobs. It is more important now than ever that our country supports our brave men and women in law enforcement. I look forward to taking back the House of Representatives so that I can work with my Republican colleagues in Congress to ensure our law enforcement is fully funded and they get the support they deserve.”
“Congressman Kustoff is a champion for our police and public safety,” said District Attorney for the 25th Judicial District Mark Davidson. “We need him in Congress to hold that thin blue line, protect our borders and keep West Tennessee a great place to live, work and play.”
“Nobody works harder in Congress to keep violent criminals out of our West Tennessee communities than Congressman Kustoff,” said Gibson County Sheriff Paul Thomas. “I can always count on Congressman Kustoff to support our men and women in blue.”
During his time in Congress, Congressman Kustoff has led the charge on issues impacting the law enforcement community. He took the lead in Congress to re-introduce the Restoring Armed Career Criminal Act, signed the Heritage Action Foundation’s Police Pledge, introduced the Preserving Safe Communities by Ending Swatting Act, introduced the CAST Act to help law enforcement crack down on counterfeit pill makers, and has led the charge on dozens of other pro-law enforcement initiatives.
