Lady Tornado Hoops Squad Honors Standout Players

Union City, Tenn.–The Union City High School girls’ basketball team enjoyed a pizza party at Snappy Tomato recently  to celebrate their 2021-22 season.

The Lady Tornadoes compiled a 15-12 record this past year, making it to the regional quarterfinals.

Several UC girls were lauded with individual accolades at Monday’s get-together.

Among those recognized were:

Sophie Theobald – Leadership Award

Emmaline Qualls – Hustle Award

Amari Bonds – Most Valuable Player

Jamari Cox – Best Teammate

Kennedi Robinson – Rookie of the Year

Not pictured: Khia German – Most Improved

UCHS baseball, softball tryouts

set for Tuesday, Wednesday

Tryouts for next year’s Union City High School baseball team will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Elam Stadium.

Incoming freshmen and anyone who did not play for the Golden Tornadoes last season are encouraged to audition for the 2023 team.

Players must bring their workout gear. In the event of rain, the tryouts will be held at the multi-purpose building on the UCHS campus.

Tryouts for next year’s UC High School softball team will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Eddlemon-Hawks Field at Graham Park.

Anyone who will be a freshman during the 2022-23 school year or anyone who was not on the squad this past spring must try out to make next year’s team.

In case of inclement weather, the tryouts will be moved to the UCHS multi-purpose building.
