
Dover, Tenn.–The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is investigating an officer-involved shooting in Stewart County which resulted in the death of the suspect.
Stewart County Sheriff Frankie Gray issued a press release this morning on the incident, which occurred Saturday evening in the area of Hayes Ridge Rd. According to Gray, deputies returned fire after the suspect fired multiple shots at them.
The incident began when deputies responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle. After searching the area, the vehicle was located off of Hwy. 46.
Gray said deputies attempted to talk the driver out of the vehicle but he refused. The driver of the vehicle pointed a weapon at deputies and refused to exit the vehicle. “The driver fired multiple shots at our deputies. Deputies then returned fire killing the suspect,” Gray said.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigations was called to handle the investigation which is ongoing. No further information is available at this time.
