Dover, Tenn.–Despite the 90 degree heat and dense foliage, Stewart County Sheriff’s Office K9 Harry tracked and held a wanted felon until he was handcuffed by deputies Friday afternoon.
Spencer Tabor, age 21, of Indian Mound, was arrested for aggravated assault and domestic assault and was armed with a screwdriver when he was apprehended after running into the woods. Tabor also was wanted out of Missouri for felony assault and felony theft. He is being held at the local jail on $73,000 bond.
Deputies Wyatt Wilburn and Aaron Taylor were called to a domestic call on Friday afternoon on Gilliam Hollow Road.
Sheriff Frankie Gray said a female subject was assaulted by her boyfriend who threatened her with a knife when she fled the residence. The boyfriend destroyed her phone and attempted to keep her from leaving but the female managed to get into her vehicle and leave.
When the deputies arrived the male subject had fled into the woods. The deputies were assisted by THP Jacob MacDonald.
Unsure of where the subject was in the woods and unsure if he was armed with a weapon they called for a K-9.
Sgt. Robbie MacDonald arrived and deployed K-9 Harry. Despite the 90 degrees Harry was able to locate the subject after about 25 minutes and apprehend the suspect in the woods, who at the time had a screwdriver in his hand and was in dense foliage. K-9 Harry was able to hold onto the suspect until he was handcuffed by Deputy Wyatt Wilburn and K-9 Sgt. MacDonald.
Suspect was transported to Tennova Hospital due to injuries.
