Paris, Tenn.–Yard sales will abound in the Historic Atkins-Porter Neighborhood Saturday, May 7 for the neighborhood association’s annual event.
You’ll be able to find yard sales on every street in the Atkins-Porter Neighborhood.
“Most of the sales will begin at 7 am and many will run until at least noon or 1 pm,” according to Association President Rachel Terrell. “There will be a map highlighting participants’ addresses on the association’s Facebook page, hard copy maps at sale sites, as well as plenty of signage, according to Terrell.
The historic neighborhood lies within the boundaries of Dunlap, Veterans Drive, Tyson Avenue and East Wood Street.
The organization holds monthly meetings at the Atkins-Porter Botanical Garden, 311 Jackson Street on the third Tuesday of each month at 7 pm. All interested individuals are encouraged to attend.
Terrell described the annual giant yard sale as a “fun, annual project that encourages people to come enjoy our shady streets, our cool old homes and our friendly neighbors. There’s plenty of parking on the street in the neighborhood, and if you’re a walker, every sale on the map is a nice walk from the AP Rec Center parking lot.” The AP Center is located at the corner of Walnut and Highland Streets.
Shoppers are invited to stop in at the botanical garden for a little break on Saturday. They are also invited to bring their little ones to the library’s summer reading program on Tuesdays, June-July and Tree Talk with Tennessee National Wildlife Ranger Joan Howe on Thursdays in June. There also will be fundraiser ice cream social on July 16 in the garden.
