Lady Rebels On Way To State Championship Game

Murfreesboro, Tenn.-The McKenzie Lady Rebels are headed to the State Championship game with their 58-46 victory over Gleason Friday night.

After a slow start. the #1 ranked Lady Rebels got their stride in their win over #14 ranked Gleason Lady Bulldogs.

The Lady Rebels will play at 8:150 p.m. Saturday versus Wayne County for the BlueCross Girls State Basketball Championship.

Dani Dyer chipped in 12 points on the night and had 7 rebounds and 1 assist.  Katie Chesser scored 6, Mikaela Reynolds 3, Kylie Reynolds 2, Hannah Dillingham 3.  A scary moment occurred when Briely Auvenshine went down in the game and had to leave the floor for attention but came back and ended the night with 8 points, 3 rebounds and a steal.
Carrington Lifsey led Gleason with 19 points, Alayna Anderson had 14, Tinsley Parkins had 4, Sophie Wilson 3 and Ava Sawyers, Autumn Mingle and Daisy Blevins had 2.
In his post game interview with the media Coach Wilkins complimented the Lady Rebels for their tenacity pointing out the senior play of Dani Dyer.  When asked by one reporter about their earlier victory over Gleason in the year, coach Wilkins praised the guard play of Anderson and Lifsey and the head coach of the Bulldogs Sean Stephenson.
