Mayfield, Ky.–Mayfield was devastated by a direct hit from last night’s massive tornado and Live Storm Chasers have released aerial photos showing the extent of the damage. Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear earlier said reports are that at least 50 people in Mayfield have died from last night’s storm.
Meteorologists are reporting that the tornado, which started in Arkansas, may have been on the ground for 235 miles or more, which would make it the longest-tracking tornado in U.S. history.
Live Storm Chasers officials said,  “Absolutely unreal aerial images here in Mayfield, Kentucky where a strong tornado went through overnight. We are out here this morning and the north half of Mayfield is nearly leveled. At least EF3-4 level tornado damage was noted. We will provide more updates throughout the day.”
The tornado scar is so visible cutting through the north half of Mayfield.
