Murray Statue Vandalized

Murray, Ky.–The Calloway County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in identifying the persons responsible for vandalizing the statue of Robert E. Lee in Murray.
On Thursday, December 2, 2021 at approximately 7 a.m. the Calloway County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by the Murray Police Department to respond to the area of 4th and Main Streets in the city of Murray for a report of damage to a statue. The responding Deputy met with a Murray Police Officer on scene who had discovered the confederate statue of Robert E. Lee had been damaged by paint.
Preliminary investigation has indicated sometime between Wednesday at 10 p.m. and Thursday at 7 a.m., individuals damaged the statue by putting paint on it. The Calloway County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate this incident and is requesting anyone with information to contact them by phone at 270-753-3151 or by email at ccso.office@callkyso.com.
