Area COVID-19 Convalescent Plasma Supply Needs To Be Replenished

blood-dyersb-2

Because the area hospitals have run through the majority of their COVID-19 Convalescent Plasma supply, LIFELINE needs to collect more to help treat those who are seriously ill with COVID-19.

LIFELINE Marketing Director Caitlin Roach said, “We once again need your help to care for patients who are hospitalized with COVID-19. If you have had COVID-19 in the last six months, you may be eligible to donate COVID Convalescent Plasma (CCP) at our Jackson center.”

CCP donations are appointment-only and will be made through the Quality and Regulatory Services department. Because determining if a donor qualifies to give CCP is complex, they ask that you direct all questions about CCP eligibility and the donation process to Jackie Workman, Quality and Regulatory Coordinator, at 731.633.0572.

Roach said, “We had stopped earlier this year because we had a good supply stored up, but that is now depleted. Please help us spread the word. Determining eligibility will be much more complicated this time around, so we are asking those who think they may quality to contact us. We will NOT be testing all whole blood donations for COVID-19 antibodies like we did last year/earlier this year. CCP can ONLY be collected at our Jackson Center.”
