Paris, Tenn.–A Paris Police Officer is in a Jackson hospital after he was injured trying to restrain a man described as disorderly and under the influence of narcotics.

The incident occurred Thursday morning at the Knights Inn hotel on Tyson Ave. when Paris Police were called on a disturbance call.

Paris Assistant Chief Ean Reed told RadioNWTN that the officer was injured and transferred by ambulance to a Jackson hospital.

“They were responding to the disorderly call and there was a suspect there who was irate and seemingly under the influence of narcotics,” Reed said. “While he was being restrained, one of our officers was injured.”

The suspect refused medical treatment for minor injuries and was transported to the Henry County Jail.

At the scene this morning were several Paris Police officers and investigators, plus the Henry County EMS.
