Henry County 12, year-old baseball pitcher, Gavin Watkins, son of Jimbo and Valerie Wynn of Cottage Grove helped lead his teammates on the Jackson Storm team to Champions of the USSA 12 U World Series this last weekend in Dallas Fort Worth Texas. Watkins is a student at Harrelson Middle School in Puryear and will be an 8th grader this coming year and looking forward to playing with the Henry County Middle School baseball team. The Storm, made up of youngsters from around the Jackson and surrounding areas were seeded number 1 going into the World Series and won 9 straight games in a double-elimination tournament to be crowned champions. They defeated Team Houston to claim the title. During the state tournament, Watkins pitched to 207 batters, striking out 91 and giving up on 27 hits in the entire tournament.
