Victim Of Martin Shooting Dies; Suspect Held

Martin, Tenn.–The victim of Wednesday’s shooting in Martin did not survive, according to Martin Police Chief Don Teal. Teal said the victim is Alisha Gadlin, age 41, of Martin.

Arrested in the shooting is Ashley Brown, age 29 of Union City. She has been charged with second-degree murder and is being held in the Weakley County Detention Center.

Assistant Police Chief Phillip Fuqua said yesterday the incident occurred around 4 p.m. at 200 North Lindell St.

Upon arrival, officers determined that a physical altercation between three females had escalated and shots were fired in the parking lot at that address. During the incident, one female was shot with a handgun.

Fuqua said the victim was transported by at the time by EMS to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. The suspect was taken into custody at the scene and the weapon recovered.

The investigation continues and more information will be released later, Fuqua said.
