Camden, Tenn.–It was a day of remembrance in Benton County for those who have lost their lives to COVID-19.
With the one-year anniversary of when COVID-19 was named a world-wide pandemic, Benton County officials conducted Memorial Services Friday for the 39 county residents who have lost their lives to COVID.
Services were held in both Camden and Big Sandy, with a noon service at the Benton County Courthouse and an afternoon service held at Big Sandy City Hall. The services were organized by American Legion Auxiliary Post 228 of Big Sandy with assistance from county and city officials and first responders.
At the noon service, County Mayor Brett Lashlee and Sheriff Kenny Christopher spoke on the impact COVID-19 has had in Benton County. At the Big Sandy Service, Big Sandy Mayor Autumn Ratliffe and District Attorney Matt Stowe spoke.
Red Heart memorials were placed at both sites to remember those who have lost their lives.
