Henry County Mayor John Penn Ridgeway announced Henry County General Government Offices will be closed Tuesday, Feb 16, 2021 due to significant winter weather that is making roads very hazardous.
County Mayor Ridgeway said, “I would like to encourage the public to stay off the roads if at possible. Sleet and snow throughout the evening and this morning have caused roads to become very slick and hazardous. The road conditions are causing slower response times for our first responders. Several vehicle accidents have occurred throughout the morning, one with injuries. I appreciate all the hard work our first responders and road crews are doing out in this winter storm.”
A warming shelter has been opened at the Inman School Tornado Shelter, 400 Harrison St in Paris and will be monitored by both the Paris Police Dept and Henry County Sheriffs Dept personnel. Persons are encouraged to bring warm clothes, a folding chair, blanket, charged cell phone and charger and bottled water.
County offices closed include: Courthouse, Courthouse Annex, Health Dept, Recycling Center, Central Community Building, and Airport.
The county commission will meet via teleconference Tuesday evening at 5PM.
