Oakland, Tenn.–A house trailer was destroyed at an early morning fire in Henry County but there were no injuries and dogs at the home were rescued.

The Oakland Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched at 4:40 a.m. this morning to a structure fire at 1199 Old Union Road. Fire Chief James Martin said upon arrival the home was already 75 percent involved in flames. Owner of the trailer is Bobby Evans.

Cause of the fire is believed to be a heat lamp in the shed that was in use for the dogs who were rescued, Martin said. The dogs were rescued either by neighbors or the Henry County Sheriff’s deputies, who were on the scene.

The house trailer is a complete loss. Mutual aid was received from the Springville Volunteer Fire Department and the Paris Fire Department.

Oakland responded with 3 trucks and 5 firefighters. Springville sent 2 trucks and 4 firefighters, and Paris Fire sent 1 truck and 3 firefighters.

Oakland Firefighters were still on the scene as of 8 a.m.
