Dresden, Tenn.–Members of Weakley County law enforcement treated 60 children to the annual Christmas shopping event Tuesday.
Each child was given a copy of the book, “Shop With Sheriff Smith and Justice” which was written by Weakley County Investigator Eric Smith. The children also were given Bibles, McDonald’s Happy Meal gift certificates and blankets.
The children were then escorted by officers to Walmart where they shopped for clothing and toys. The funds used for the event were raised through the Shop With Sheriff Smith Golf Tournament and private donations.
Captain Randall McGowan said members of the county’s law enforcement wish to thank the local businesses and people who sponsored holes at the golf tournament, Walmart, Tennessee Department of Children’s Services, the golfers who participated and the citizens who donated money.
