650 Free Food Boxes Handed Out In Henry Co.

Henry, Tenn.–Henry Elementary School faculty, staff and volunteers from the Henry and Cottage Grove Volunteer Fire Departments busy Friday afternoon handing out over 650 food boxes to residents of Henry County. The Henry County School System and USDA teamed up for the Farmers to Families Food Box Giveaway. Each box contained 10 to 12 pounds of fruit and vegetables, five to six pounds of pre-cooked meat items, and five to six pounds of dairy items. Henry School officials thanked Director of Schools Dr. Leah Watkins and Food Service Supervisor Karen Wilson for setting the wheels in motion for the local district’s participation in the program.
