Murray Woman Seriously Injured In Collision

Murray, Ky.–A Murray woman was seriously injured in a two-vehicle collision Monday evening in Calloway County.

Helen M. Jones, age 82, was extricated from her vehicle following the crash, which occurred on Hwy. 641. She was transported by Murray-Calloway County Ambulance to Murray-Calloway County Hospital for treatment of injuries she received during the collision. Shortly thereafter, Ms. Jones was transported by medical helicopter to another medical facility.

On Monday, October 5, 2020 at approximately 6 p.m., Calloway County Dispatch received a report of a two vehicle injury collision near the intersection of Highway 641 and Highway 464. Deputies with the Calloway County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area and located the collision.

 

Ms. Jones was operating a blue Nissan Versa eastbound on Highway 464, attempting to cross Highway 641. Near the same time, Chris Salazar, age 61, of Almo, Kentucky was operating a white Ford F150 southbound on Highway 641. Preliminary investigation indicates Ms. Jones failed to yield the right of way to Mr. Salazar’s vehicle when she attempted to cross the highway. Ms. Jones was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the collision. Ms. Jones had to be extricated from her vehicle.

 

Calloway County Sheriff’s Office was also assisted on scene by Calloway County Fire-Rescue as well as Calloway County Office of Emergency Management.

 

Sheriff Nicky Knight would like to remind the public to always wear their seat belt when operating or riding in a motor vehicle.
