Paris, Tenn.–Join artist Becky Hedges on Friday, September 18, for a closing reception of her exhibition Save the World at Paris Academy for the Arts. Featuring more than 30 works by Hedges, the collection can be viewed weekday afternoons and between 4 – 6 p.m., Friday, September 18.

Hedges expresses her lifelong love for nature throughout the collection, but her more recent work has a deeper message.

“We need to take care of our planet,” she said. “The devastation of Australia’s bushfires was heartbreaking,” she says, inspiring several pieces, such as Koala  and The Struggle is Real.

The collection highlights Hedges’ wide range of styles and techniques while traversing an artistic journey of personal growth.

One of her most striking pieces, Favorite Things, from her pen and ink series, intertwines simplicity and complexity in both technique and array of subjects. Hedges’ watercolor series encompasses the delicate, yet vibrant, beauty of plants and flowers.

The exhibition is free of charge and open to the public at Paris Academy for the Arts weekday afternoons until Friday, September 18. A closing reception with Becky Hedges will be held September 18, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. During this time, visitors can meet Hedges and learn more about her work. Those who have purchased exhibited pieces are encouraged to pick them up during this time or by appointment the following week. Contact Paris Academy for the Arts for additional information.

Paris Academy for the Arts is located at 402 Lee Street, Paris, Tennessee.
