Henry Co. Elections Commission Busy Today As Candidates Pick Up Petitions For November Ballot

Paris, Tenn.–The Henry County Election Commission was a busy place today, with some 25 hopefuls taking out petitions for county and municipal positions which will be on the November 3 ballot.

Taking out petitions for the office of County Sheriff was Paris Police Lt. Josh Frey, who announced his candidacy today (see article posted earlier Tuesday on our website).

Taking out petitions today for County Mayor were John Penn Ridgeway and Paris Mayor Carlton Gerrell, both of whom already announced their intentions of running for the position.

One individual, Daniel Boudrie has taken out petitions for both the County Mayor and County Sheriff positions.

Deadline for bringing in completed petitions for the County Mayor and Sheriff posts is noon Sept. 9.

In upcoming municipal races, the following individuals have taken out petitions:

Henry Mayor: Dane Allen, Dustin Odom

Cottage Grove Mayor: Gary McCaig

Puryear Mayor: James Paschall and Incumbent Mayor David Varner

Paris City Commission: John Etheridge, Herbert “Earl” Kendall, James Wyatt, and Incumbent City Commissioner Jackie Jones (There are two openings on Paris city commission)

Cottage Grove Alderman: Hunter Adams, Richard Carey, David Jackson, Machelle Operia, John Weiher III

Henry Alderman: Charles Barnes, Faye Lowery Keith Qualls, Cindy Rainey.

Puryear Alderman: Rebecca Hayes, Bill Robinson

Puryear Recorder: Incumbent Recorder Verla Smith

Deadline for bringing in completed petitions for the municipal positions is Thursday, August 20, at noon.
