Henry County Fair Book Dedicated To Vic Adams

vic-adams

Paris, Tenn.–Throughout many years of the Henry County Fair, it has been a tradition to dedicate the Fair Book to a person that holds traditions close to heart. That honoree has given many hours, lots of sleepless nights, lots of sweat and added several miles to their vehicle to be at meetings, workings and to lend a helping hand too a 4-H or FFA show person with an unruly animal. The list goes on an on.

This year is no different. This year, the Henry County Fair Association dedicated its Fair Book to Vic Adams.

The Fair Book dedication is an honor which usually is conducted in person and traditionally takes the honoree by surprise. This year everything is different due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and that includes the Henry County Fair itself, which has cancelled all events except for the Junior Livestock Show and Sale and Country Ham Show. The Fair will be held from August 22-29.

Vic became a member of the Association’s Board of Directors in 1995. He served for 24 years in various positions including grounds committee, book committee, livestock committee, Jr. Steer Chairman and Co-Chairman, Vice-President and President. Outside the Fair people may know him from his 38 years working with the Tennessee Department of Transportation. He farms in Buchanan and last year was added to Henry County’s honorable recognition of Century Farms; farms that have been in operation for at least 100 years. He and his wife, Lesa, have been married 45 years and have 3 children and 2 grandchildren. Vic is the son of Verble Adams and the late Horace Adams.

Fair officials said, “When he joined the Fair’s Board, it was inspiring to see some of Henry County’s finest coming together and putting on a fair. The one thing that was most impressive was the exhibitors. The hard work and dedication required for months before the fair. Vic got to see this firsthand when his 3 children showed steers and lambs at the Fair.

“Even though his time as a Board member has ended, one thing you can be certain of… Vic will be at the Fairgrounds before, during and after the fair ensuring its continued success. We proudly dedicate our book to Vic Adams.”
