Paris Man Sentenced In COVID-19 Hoax

Paris, Tenn.–A Paris man who coughed on employees at a local business, claiming he had COVID-19, has been sentenced to jail time.

Tyrin McCauley, age 24, of 345 Harrison St., was arrested in April after he coughed on employees at Walmart. He was charged with perpetrating a terroristic hoax, reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct.

During a hearing Monday in Henry County Circuit Court, Judge Donald Parish sentenced McCauley to serve three years in the Department of Correction on the charge of terroristic hoax. The sentence will be served with 120 days in confinement and the balance on supervised probation. He was given credit for 103 days already served in the Henry County Jail.
