Preliminary Hearings Set For Men Accused Of Attacks On Murray Protestors

Murray, Ky.–Preliminary hearings for the two men charged with attacks on protestors in Murray Tuesday night have been set in Calloway Co. District Court.

Both David Fryemire, age 53, of Murray, and John Dickerson, age 55, of Paducah, appeared yesterday for arraignments. In both cases, their separate preliminary hearings are set for 9 a.m. June 10.

Fryemire is charged with two counts of wanton endangerment first degree, three counts of assault fourth degree, and five counts of assault third degree for spraying pepper spray on protesters and police officers on duty at the protest.

Dickerson was arrested for pointing a firearm at the protestors. He was charged with first-degree wanton endangerment.

Bond for Fryemire was set at $15,000 and for Dickerson at $2,500.

Both men were taken to the Calloway County Jail.

As reported earlier and according to the press release from the Murray Police Department, citizens conducted a peaceful protest starting and ending on the Court Square around 5 p.m., during which they walked down multiple streets including both Main Street and 12 th Street.

The protest was over the death of George Floyd in police custody in Minneapolis.
