
Paris, Tenn.–The annual Downtown Paris Week will be held next week with live music, history, sales, giveaways and more. The highlight of this year’s week will be the ribbon-cutting for the newest downtown mural at 10 a.m. Wednesday. The mural, which honors the legacy of E.W. Grove, is in the north alley of the court square and was painted by Paris Artist Dan Knowles.
Downtown Paris Week is Sunday through Saturday, June 7-13 in Downtown Paris. The festivities are sponsored by the Downtown Paris Association (DPA).
Sunday, June 7 – WORSHIP DOWNTOWN is an opportunity for the community to visit one of six historic downtown churches for Sunday services. Whether it’s First Baptist, First Christian, First United Methodist, First Presbyterian, Grace Episcopal or Quinn Chapel AME, the churches of downtown are welcoming and inspiring. “Many of these historic churches have been in the downtown area since the mid-eighteen hundreds,” said Kathy Ray, Executive Director of the DPA. “They are the cornerstones of downtown and are the perfect place to begin Downtown Paris Week.”
Monday, June 8 – SHOP DOWNTOWN begins at 11 a.m. with Facebook Live from shops located in the downtown area. The Downtown Paris Association will go on Facebook Live to highlight various shopping opportunities in downtown Paris at 11 a.m. on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Meet the shop owners and see what is new in gifts, trends, and fashions.
Tuesday, June 9 – MUSIC ON THE SQUARE will feature Brooke and Leslie Cooper and Rockin’ Randall French from 5:30 – 7 p.m. on the north side of the Court Square. Great music calls for great food, so Perry’s BBQ will serve food on site. Bring a chair or blanket, an appetite, and enjoy a fun time listening to great music. The event will be Facebook Live also.
Wednesday, June 10 – HERITAGE DAY will begin with the ribbon cutting of the newest mural by Dan Knowles located in the North Alley next to Market Street, “The Legacy…Dr. E. W. Grove”. David Webb will be there to represent Dr. Grove. The ribbon cutting will be Facebook Live on the Downtown Paris Association Facebook page at 10 a.m. Then, visit Back Alley Paris with a virtual walk through the alleys of Downtown where art and history meet. The DPA will feature the Back Alley Paris project through the Back Alley Paris Facebook page on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with a new YouTube link promoting the project.
Thursday, June 11 –“AN EVENING IN PARIS” begins at 5 p.m. with downtown merchants open for extended hours on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. Come downtown for an evening in Paris and see all the latest fashions and gifts.
Friday, June 12 – GOVERNMENT DAY is a “tip of the hat” to the government workers who serve our community. Please take a moment to thank a City or County employee for their service to our Community.
Saturday, June 13 –DOWNTOWN EXTRA VALUE DAYS will feature special value sales all day in stores downtown. Shop local. Shop downtown. Don’t forget Father’s Day is June 21st.
DINE DOWNTOWN ALL WEEK and celebrate the eateries in downtown Paris. Enjoy a delicious meal, snack, or coffee at Jack’s Java, LL’s Bar & Grill, Market Street Bakery, New Golden Dragon, Perry’s BBQ, Take Me Back Café, and Uncle Billy’s Downtown Eatery and register to win a prize from the Downtown Paris Association.
