steve-loines-search-may-2020

Paris, Tenn.–The search for  missing person Steve Loines of Paris has led Henry County Sheriff’s investigators to multiple states and most recently to a dig operation in Hazel, KY., with nothing found.

Sheriff Monte Belew said, “The Henry County Sheriff’s Office along with Calloway County Sheriff’s Office and Puryear Police Department have spent the last three days working a potential scene in Hazel. A tip came in by way of a note being left in the bathroom of a convenience store in Murray that there was a body found in the woods next to a residence in Hazel.”

The note had Steve Loines’ name on it. Initially K-9 cadaver dogs were brought to the scene before digging began, Belew said.

The Henry County Highway Department assisted and brought in excavation equipment. An exhaustive dig and search of the entire area was done which resulted in nothing being found.

Belew said, “This is just the latest attempt to locate Loines in this ongoing investigation. Investigators are currently in the process of viewing the video footage to try and determine who left the note.”

This is the second recent search for Loines, who has been missing since 2017. Deputies, rescue squad members and K9s searched an area along Hwy. 79N over a couple of days in March, with no new clues found.

Sheriff Monte Belew said “We are not concerned with your identity. Anyone who wants to remain anonymous is still urged to call with any information they may have. We welcome any and all tips that could help lead to Steve being brought home to his family”

Any information can be called in to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office at 642-1672 or the Crime Tip Line at 642-0929

Loines was 44 in 2017.

The sheriff’s office initially offered a $1,000 reward for information, which was boosted in 2019 to $5,000.
